Hindering The Spread Of Fires

Greater concern has been placed on fire-safing penetrations in walls and ceilings to hinder the spread of fire within a structure. Starfire offers a wide line of products to satisfy the vast types of fire-safing applications.

It is important to remember that each penetration is a unique UL rated system depending on:

• Construction of the wall, floor, ceiling, cable tray, etc.
• Type of material penetrating (i.e. steel pipe, copper tubing, conduit, PVC pipe)
• Size of opening and size of penetrating material
• Hour-rating of system required
• And various other factors

Given this information, we can provide you with a UL rated system per the manufacturer's tested specifications. A sample system* [courtesy of 3M Company] is available. Note that the type and amount of fire-safing product, required backing material, and minimum/maximum annular dimensions are provided on the specification page.
