Glycerin's Freezing Point

A hydrometer is a device that is used to determine the freezing point of a glycerin solution in a sprinkler antifreeze system. A sample of the glycerin/water mixture is placed into a receptacle beaker, at which point a specific gravity probe is dropped into the solution. The probe will then indicate the specific gravity of the solution which then gets converted into the freeze from the conversion chart that is provided with the unit.
