Glycol's Freezing Point

A refractometer is a device that is used to determine the freezing point of a propylene glycol solution is a sprinkler antifreeze system. A sample of the glycol/water mixture is placed on the measuring window. You then look through the eyepiece and point the device at a light source. The freezing point is then read at where the dark and light portions meet on the scale inside the unit.
