Controlling Water Damage With Sprink-Off
As an automatic method of extinguishing fires, sprinkler
systems have saved many thousands of dollars in terms of property, equipment
and lives.
But, in the event of sprinkler activation, for example,
a small fire or even malicious tampering, sprinkler systems can cause
thousands of dollars of water damage within a few minutes. During the
time required to de-activate (10-15 minutes) and then drain-down a fire-sprinkler
system, documentation, office equipment/computers and stock may be ruined
- not to mention possible building damage caused by water penetration.
And once the system is de-activated, other areas of the
building are immediately placed at risk until the system is re-commissioned.
