Carbon Dioxide Suppression Systems
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards. CO2 works quickly and has no residual clean-up associated with a system discharge, which means minimal business interruption. CO2 is for use in non-occupied spaces and is particularly effective for local application protection of equipment. CO2 is an environmentally friendly, colorless, odorless, electrically non-conductive agent that is used mostly in industrial applications.
When CO2 is applied to a fire, it provides a heavy blanket of gas that reduces the oxygen level to a point where combustion cannot occur. Precautions must be taken to minimize any exposure to life. The standard for carbon dioxide systems is NFPA 12.
