Foam Suppression Systems
Starfire Systems installs and services foam suppression systems, including foam agents, storage tanks, and discharge devices. We also provide annual inspections, foam sampling, bladder replacements, and system commissioning.
Fire fighting foam systems suppress a fire by separating the fuel from oxygen. Fire fighting foam is a stable mass of small air-filled bubbles with a lower density than oil, gasoline, or water. Foam is made up of three ingredients: water, foam concentrate, and air. Water is proportioned with a foam concentrate to form a foam solution. The solution is then aspirated with air to produce foam which readily flows over fuel surfaces.
A basic foam system will always require a foam agent storage container, proportioning equipment, one or more discharge devices, and a manual or automatic means of detecting the fire and actuating the system.
