VESDA ECO Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring
VESDA ECO uses the existing VESDA air-sampling pipe network to actively monitor for gas leaks and continuously ensure air quality in occupied areas. This simple expansion requires no construction and does not involve installing electrical conduits. The VESDA ECO system detects unseen hazards by conditioning or filtering the air to remove moisture, interferent gases, dirt, and other particulates that can cause traditional point gas detection systems to false alarm or become contaminated.
Each VESDA ECO gas detector can house up to two gas sensors, and additional detectors can be added easily to the VESDA pipe network to monitor more gases if required. It also integrates with other building systems, including fire alarm control panels (such as the Cybercat), PLCs, HVAC, and building management systems. For example, VESDA ECO can be used in a transportation hub to monitor carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide levels, activating variable-speed fans as part of a demand-controlled ventilation system, which controls costs and saves energy.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, tasteless, and highly toxic gas that results from the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. It is often referred to as “the silent killer” because it is virtually impossible to detect without sensing technology. From 2004 to 2006, over 20,000 people per year visited emergency rooms after accidental, non-fatal CO exposures. From 1999 to 2004, an average of 439 people died from accidental CO exposure.
Carbon monoxide (CO) detectors are devices that monitor the amount of CO in the air over a given time period. Distinguished by their sensing technology, three basic types of CO detectors are used today: biomimetic, metal oxide semiconductor, and electrochemical.

Industrial Gas Detectors
Conspec's CN (NEMA 4X) and CX Series (Explosion Proof) are economical choices for carbon monoxide gas monitoring. A simple and "smart" gas detector with an industry standard 4-20mA analog output or modbus signal, it can stand alone or be connected to any existing PC, DCS, or EMS system. A simplified calibration procedure allows for a quick, non-intrusive, adjustment-free calibration.
